It sounds a bit “cliche” but 23 years of experience – crisscrossing the Asia – Pacific region, establishing and running businesses, managing and developing people – make a difference.
It has been a rare opportunity for me to meet and work closely with thousand of Executives across all industries and functions and at all level of seniority and responsibilities. I have learned a lot from them. Been disappointed on a number of occasions too.
Most importantly, I have come to realise that we shall never know anything for certain.
Today, calling Hong Kong home, I realise that working and breathing in Asia is essentially a relentless “unlearning” process.
I remain extremely driven and ambitious, for myself and for my Clients. And yet, I have also become a bit more mindful. Maybe it is what we call growing up.
To be completely honest, I started in the recruitment industry by chance. It was not planned. One of those life coïncidences that turn turn out to be an absolute evidence.
I love it. Both the industry and the profession. I am passionate about my Clients ‘ businesses and responsibilities. Learning about their markets, their competitors, the challenges they are facing never completely fulfil my thirst for knowledge and my insatiable curiosity.
I am proud of my ability to engage in a meaningful conversation with almost anyone about their Company and their job. Those thousands of conversations continuously feed a large virtual database of business cases from which I draw my recommendations to my Clients. Whether they are looking for a new job. Or trying to hire the best and brightest.
I was fortunate to be trained by two the very best in our industry. One shrewd business leader with a relentless attention to profit driven operations. And one hell of talent judge who quickly became of one the best headhunter across Asia. Although my interactions with them were only now and then. They have been essential and formative in who I have become today.
After all those years, working on each side of the Talent equation I have developed a unique understanding of the challenges of the recruitment process. What Hiring firms try to achieve and so often fail. And what Headhunters and recruitment firms try to complete and also often fail. Understanding – intimately – both parties agenda – allows me to guide the Candidate and ensure that she overcomes all obstacles, the known and also the unknown ones.
